Draw a woman’s face profile
7 March 2018
A profile view of a human face can make a really nice tattoo.
In the traditional style design we’ve chosen for you there aren’t any precise guidelines to follow, just a basic shape.
- To design the human face you always start with a circle which represents the skullcap.
- Below this draw a semi-circle to form the outline of the jaw.
- Now trace a tangent line on the outside of the circle and place some equidistant perpendicular lines across it to mark the position of the eyes and top of the nose, tip of the nose and mouth.
- To make a symmetrical face, the bottom of the chin and the hairline are both the same distance from the line nearest to them.
- Now you have all the elements in place to draw a profile.
- You can decide on the other features to give it. Here we’ve produced a women’s face but you can follow the exact same procedure to make a man’s face. Then colour as you choose. The background wings are in the shade, so colour them in grey or black.
- Colour your drawing.
You can find this tutorial also in Idea Tattoo 176 and in our Tattoo School book.
